BIAS
More info
Implicit bias, also commonly known as unconscious bias, refers to the various social stereotypes and judgments that people unknowingly assign to others based on a variety of factors, such as their age, socioeconomic status, weight, gender, race, or sexual orientation.
Often, we aren’t aware that these biases are functioning in our minds. The first step is to practice recognizing them.
Detailed info
- When you notice yourself making a judgment about someone else, take a breath.
- Notice the judgement and instead of accepting it practice being curious about it.
- Ask yourself: “Where does this judgment come from? Do I believe this judgement?”
- Curiosity gives you a moment to pause and stops you from assuming your bias is correct.
