EmpowerYOUth is a flexible learning programme for
professionals working with young people aged 14–18.
It provides practical ways to explore wellbeing,
resilience and the challenges young people face
through dialogue, reflection and participatory learning.
Young people have a voice in the topics they explore,
and facilitators can adapt activities to the needs,
maturity and dynamics of each group. The programme
supports emotional awareness, coping skills,
relationships, resilience and help-seeking.
Educators and youth workers can use the public
EmpowerYOUth Cards and Nine Boxes and learn about
how the programme works. Registration gives access
to the full learning programme, modules and
facilitator materials.

EmpowerYOUth is participatory and modular.
Young people have a voice in the topics they explore,
while facilitators can adapt methods and activities
to the needs, maturity and dynamics of the group.
The programme is normally delivered over eight sessions.
Young people are introduced to EmpowerYOUth
and choose the topics they most want to explore.
Young people explore their personal values,
strengths and sense of purpose, including
through the Ikigai approach.
The remaining sessions focus on themes
selected by the group.
Young people have a voice in the topics they explore.
Facilitators are provided with different methods
and activities that can be adapted to the maturity,
needs and dynamics of each group.
The aim is not to create another traditional classroom
lesson, but to provide a setting for discussion,
reflection, practical learning and skill-building.
EmpowerYOUth uses participatory approaches, open
questions and dialogue to help young people reflect
and develop their own understanding rather than
simply being provided with answers.
Young people have a voice in what they explore.
EmpowerYOUth is designed to create a supportive
and participatory space where young people can
reflect, discuss and learn from one another.
Facilitators use open questions, dialogue and
practical activities rather than relying mainly
on instruction. Sessions can be adapted to the
needs of the group.
Some of the topics explored through EmpowerYOUth
can be personal or sensitive. Facilitators should
therefore remain attentive to young people's
wellbeing and recognise when a young person may
need additional individual or professional support.
The Cards can be used to introduce a topic,
open a group discussion, suggest a practical
strategy or give a young person something
to reflect on.
The programme materials also identify relevant
Cards that can be used with individual modules.
The Nine Boxes helps young people reflect on
different areas of their lives, recognise
strengths and sources of support, and identify
areas that may need more attention.
It can be used for individual reflection or
as a starting point for a conversation.
The downloadable resource will be available soon.
The EmpowerYOUth programme materials provide
facilitators with guidance for introducing each
theme and exploring it through participatory activities.
